The Bureau
The Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau (MCVB) is a not for profit organisation that ensures Melbourne is recognised nationally and internationally as one of the world’s best cities for hosting business events.
MCVB is a partnership between the State Government and private enterprise, and relies on these two groups for funding. The majority of MCVB’s core funding comes from the State and the balance from private enterprise through MCVB’s members, sponsorship and co-operative promotions.
For almost three decades, MCVB has been extremely successful in promoting and developing business events in Melbourne and Victoria. MCVB works closely with organisations to secure the rights to host international and national events in Melbourne and Victoria.
We tailor our services to assist in every aspect of bidding, planning advice and support for meetings, conventions, incentive programs and special events to meet our client’s needs.
Our dedicated team of over 30 men and women are employed in three departments: marketing, corporate services and sales. In addition, we employ representatives in Sydney, New York, London, Singapore and Hong Kong. Together, we ensure that Melbourne is recognized nationally and internationally as one of the world’s best cities for business events.
MCVB's organisational structure is made up of three key areas - Corporate Services, Sales and Marketing.
MCVB's core objectives include:
- To position Melbourne as a premier business events destination
- To maximise yield by achieving increased delegate and accompanying visitor numbers, length of stay and expenditure
- To develop new business event segments to broaden Victoria's appeal to new target markets
- To optimise new investment and infrastructure to attract business events
- To gain greater commitment and unity from all major stakeholders
- To increase business event activity in regional Victoria
- To maximise business event opportunities for MCVB members
